Original, Affordable Works of Art: Custom Toy Portraits by Jennifer Maher

I love the idea of having a portrait done of a favorite toy! When Jennifer contacted me to ask if we would like to have one as a giveaway, I did not know that there was such a thing as toy portraits - when I saw the site www.yourtoyportrait.com I loved the concept. What a unique gift. As Jennifer says: "A painting of a favorite toy makes a unique, enduring gift for the child in your life (or yourself!)" Take a look as some of Jennifer's work below - Imagine your child receiving a portrait of their favorite toy.

"Reclining Dog"

"Emilia's Bunny"

"Tickle Dolly"

"Maxie and Drum-Drum"

We will give away one 8"x10" acrylic-on-canvas custom portrait worth $100. The winner would just need to email Jennifer a couple of photos of the toy taken without flash and with the light coming from one side of it.  They will receive their framed portrait in about 2-3 weeks from that point.

To enter just leave 1 comment below telling us about you or your child's favorite toy. You can receive a bonus entry by also uploading an image of the toy in your comment.  US mailing addresses only. Winner will be drawn randomly on 12th August 2011. The winner of the Toy Portrait is Stephanie Williams - Congratulations.

My daughter had slept with the same stuffed dog since she wad three. We always kidded her she'd be taking "Doggy" to college with her and she always seemed shocked that we thought she wouldn't. Years passed and Doggy had bare patches and many sewed up areas but still was in Allison's bed every night and went with her to summer camp and sleepovers. The day she left for college was hectic; clothes and furnishings were tossed everywhere in her room as we left to take her to her dorm. Several hours later, I returned to the house and her empty room and found Doggy laying at the head of her bed seemingly forgotten. I teared up missing my daughter and feeling foolish for being sorry for a stuffed dog. And then my daughter texted me, "I FORGOT DOGGY!". Doggy made the trip to the dorm that weekend and has been back and forth from college since.

My 3yo daughter has a special sea turtle named 'Limu".  While on vacation in Oahu, Hawaii this past Christmas with my entire extended family we found a book @ Costco @ sea turtles and one was named Limu (which I believe is the Hawaiian word for turtle).  Upon arrival to our house there the baby rental furniture company delivered her crib for our stay and the sweet couple that run the business also gave her a hand made sea turtle from another part of the island....she LOVED it and named it Limu after the book.  It will ALWAYS remind me of the amazing vacation and all the special memories and I hope it will do the same for her.  We take Limu everywhere and she even took him and the book to preschool for her bday bc it was her special day and she wanted to show everyone and have the book read to her friends.  So sweet!! Thanks for the opportunity to win such a beautiful painting....I would love to have it so that one day I can give it to her  to remind her of the times we all shared!!

My 4 y-o, “The General”, never ventures far without Pup and
Blank. Blank was intended to be a gift for her little sister but she confiscated
it directly from the gift bag. Pup even has his own car seat for road trips.

My daughter's favorite "lovey" is a mommy Manatee with a baby attached. She got to visit Manatees at the Mote Aquarium when she was two. Since then we have read many books and articles about them as well as looked at lots and lots of pics on the computer. She visited another aquarium about a year later and immediately fell in love with the stuffed and sleeps with it almost every night - she is now almost 6.

Lambert the stuffed lion is my toddler's absolute favorite.  He goes everywhere with us (our son shows him the airplanes and trucks at the airport and points out fun things in the car). Lambert need milk and food and good night hugs and kisses and get medicine when our son is sick. His beautiful mane is now matted from all of his "baths", but you can tell that he is very loved.

We have had a turtle stuffed animal  puppet since my first child was a toddler "turty" as is now loving called has been a big part of our family.  His debut into our family was waking the children up, putting them to bed, and reading them stories.  He still does lots of these things at mommies house and has become a big cuddle bug for us all.  He has over the years developed asthma (as one of the children's friends developed asthma)  I had to give him his medicine daily (to which my son reminded me each morning).  Turty goes everywhere with us although sometimes he has to wait in the car.  My children are now 11, 9, and 7 so turty has been around for a while.  He has gone on many vacations as we like to call them when we have left him at a resturant or somewhere but he always makes it home.  We love our Turty.
